Some time ago, I had a coincidence which involved some writing reflections on the book of Titus. Sometimes it is hard to know quite what to make of these happenings though, as a believer, I do often have this deep reminder of the presence of God and of the deep ordering by God of his creation. And so I wrote this prayer in response:
Lord, I thank you for your constant reminder to me of your presence with me in and through all the activities of my life. I thank you for this little Titus ‘co-incidence’. Lord, I don’t often understand quite why these things happen, but it does remind me of your presence with me in and through these writings and the things that I am doing. Thank you for that. And above all, I do thank you for the kindness and love of God our Saviour which has appeared. I thank you that you saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of your mercy. Thank you, Lord God, for your mercy. Thank you for your salvation through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit whom you have poured out on us so generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour. I pray for grace to trust you knowing that I have been justified by his grace and that I might be assured of the inheritance which I share in as an heir who has the hope of eternal life. Lord, I praise and adore you for all your grace and kindness to me and to all believers. I pray for your hand of grace and protection over my family, and I give you thanks for this day past. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
